It's getting to be porch-sitting season here. Porch-sitting usually requires a beverage. As it is also strawberry season, I felt that a frothy pink cocktail would be the perfect companion to an evening of reading on the deck. For some reason sake (rice wine) just sounds healthier than vodka, so I blended some up with a few ingredients to produce a grown-up...
Strawberry Sake Shake
1 1/2 cups sake
1 cup coconut water
3/4 cup young coconut meat
2 T sweetener of choice (I used coconut nectar)
1 T vanilla (I used Madagascar vanilla bean paste- because it's awesome)
3/4 lb strawberries
1 frozen banana
Blend all ingredients in a high powered blender. Makes about four servings.
*The young coconut meat and the coconut water could probably be replaced with canned coconut milk...?
Question: Do you like sake? If so, do you prefer it straight or with a mixer?
