Home Things

TH, my dad and I camped out for a month on our property in 2007 to build our cabin.  It was so much fun!  My dad shared his mad skills and TH became quite the carpenter.  I feel proud because we did everything ourselves, except for the plumbing (for when we drill a well someday).

Our cabin is 384 square feet and perfect. We do not have water (no shower, bathroom, faucet, washing machine), but we've realized how simple life becomes in a small dwelling.  We have an epic view of Denali (Mt. McKinley), and an amazing wood stove, which keeps us toasty during Alaskan winters.

Denali peeks out of the clouds

  1. In May of 2017, I'm retiring after 20yrs in Orlando, FL. I'm moving to AK to my new (unbuilt) cabin, to a pretty piece of property near Willow AK. I plan to build a 12X16 simple cabin and live out the rest of my life in the bush of ALASKA!!! I'm so excited! I've lived in -40F weather and know how to stay warm and comfy. I'll be "off the grid" and LOVING IT! Can't wait to get there! Love your site!
